Aim and Scope

The Journal of General Education (JGED) is a multidisciplinary, double-blind, peer-reviewed international journal dedicated to advancing knowledge across the broad domains of education, science, technology, and society. The journal provides a scholarly platform for the dissemination of original research, critical reviews, conceptual analyses, and policy-oriented studies that examine contemporary issues through interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral perspectives.

JGED focuses on research that explores the dynamic interactions between educational systems, scientific development, technological innovation, socio-economic processes, cultural transformations and governance structures at global, national and local scales. The journal encourages contributions that integrate theory with empirical evidence and methodological rigor, offering insights that are relevant to academic scholarship, professional practice, and evidence-based policymaking.

The scope of JGED encompasses, but is not limited to, the following thematic and disciplinary areas:

Education and Pedagogy

General education, curriculum studies, teaching and learning practices, assessment and evaluation, educational policy, inclusive and lifelong education.

Social Sciences, Humanities, and Legal Studies

Sociology, anthropology, history, literature, philosophy, cultural studies, gender studies, human rights studies, and ethics, alongside constitutional law, administrative law, public and private law, environmental law, international law, comparative law, and jurisprudence.

Economics, Business and Governance

Development economics, business studies, finance, public administration, political science, international relations and policy analysis.

Science, Engineering and Technology

Natural and applied sciences, engineering, technological innovation, digital transformation, and science–society interfaces.

Environmental and Sustainability Studies

Environmental science, climate change, energy studies, technology management, sustainable development, and socio-ecological systems.

Quantitative and Analytical Disciplines

Mathematics, statistics, data analysis, modeling, and interdisciplinary applications of quantitative methods.

Research Emphasis

The journal places particular emphasis on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research that bridges traditional disciplinary boundaries and addresses complex real-world challenges, including sustainable development, social equity, technological change and educational transformation. Comparative studies, cross-cultural research, and context-specific analyses from both developed and developing regions are especially encouraged.

JGED welcomes submissions that contribute to theoretical advancement, methodological innovation, and practical relevance, fostering dialogue among scholars, educators, policymakers, practitioners, and development professionals worldwide.

Publication Frequency

The Journal of General Education (JGED) is published biannually, with two issues released each year in June and December. All articles are published in the English language, ensuring accessibility to a broad international readership.

Open Access Policy

The Journal of General Education (JGED) follows an immediate open access policy, providing unrestricted access to its published content upon release. This policy is based on the principle that free and open availability of scholarly research enhances the global exchange of knowledge, promotes academic collaboration, and increases the visibility and impact of published work.

To support the costs associated with editorial processing, peer review management, and publication, the journal applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) as follows:
